The Royal Canadian Legion

At the end of World War I, there were 15 groups of veterans in Canada as well as a certain number of associations representing the former servicemen. In July 1926, the Canadian government created the Dominion Veterans Alliance, which is called the Royal Canadian Legion today. The main objectives of the Legion are to be the official spokesman for veterans and to advise the government on all matters relating to veterans.

Due to the growing number of veterans, branches were created and premises were made available to them. From 1953 to 2002, Maison Nivard-De Saint-Dizier was therefore rented to Branch 202 of the Royal Canadian Legion for a token annual rent of $1. The former servicemen used the house as a place for their meetings and gatherings.
