Maurice Richard
Nicknamed "The Rocket", Maurice Richard is one of the best known former hockey players in Canada and the world. At the age of 17, he joined the junior hockey scene and played for the Verdun Maple Leafs for two seasons (1938-1939 and 1939-1940).
During the 1939-1940 season, he played only 10 games and 11 during the playoffs. In these 21 games, Maurice Richard scored 17 goals and made 13 assists, for a total of 30 points. The following year, he signed a contract with the Senior Canadiens, the farm team of Les Canadiens de Montréal inc. In the course of his career, Maurice Richard won 8 Stanley Cups and was awarded many honours.
