Simpson Manor, about 1888
In 1861, the former residence of Sir George Simpson (about 1787-1860), Governor of Hudson’s Bay Company, became a boarding school. Across the road, public school classes were held in the stone shed previously used as a warehouse (now the Fur Trade at Lachine National Historic Site, Parks Canada).
